ORM/ERM/Entity Framework Meeting

During the final VBUG meeting for 2010 in Bracknell, Steve Wilmot and Rob Bagby presented sessions on ORMs and ERM’s.

Steve began by defining what are ERMs and ORMs and spoke about some of the considerations you should make and the various features on offer. These include validation rules, caching, and logging. Also talked about were the advantages of using SP’s which include being able to take advantage of the database specific features such as bulkload, TVPs and the Merge command.

LLBLGen was briefly mentioned – (an entity modelling solution) and more details can be found here:

Next, Rob Bagby did a fantastic session on Entity Framework. Most of what he spoke about can be found in recordings which have been uploaded onto Channel9 and I can thoroughly recommend taking a look.

Rob offers a 17hour training course on this topic and more details can be found here:

The evening was well attended and many thanks to Steve and Rob for speaking!
